Garden in May

Here is a picture of our garden as it is beginning to grow, and fun pictures of the girls inspecting a little praying mantis that we found and put in our garden. Praying mantises are good for gardens, yes?

Never Knew?

Well, there are many things I never knew, but here's a fun one I'm glad I know now.

Apparently, as I was informed by a close friend, there is a fun little competitive movement within library circles. That is the movement of competitive book cart drill teams and clapping ensembles. If you care to view one such book cart drill team, click on the link in our funny videos list. Quite an education I'm sure. (Mom, look carefully as the camera pans around for someone you may know.)

I should have a garden update, and pictures of our hike soon. I know, promises... promises...

You'll all be glad to know that we made it through Youth Conference and Girls Camp relatively unscathed. :) Hope everyone is enjoying summer, we're off to the pool!

Ack!!!

I know, I know, I'm sorry!!! Can I just tell you about May? The first four weeks of May were my children's last four weeks of school. Consequently, I attended: 5 f ieldtrips, 2 talent shows, 2 awards assemblies, 1 breakfast, 2 graduations (one Kindergarten, one H.S-for 6 kids at church), 1 play, 1 concert, 1 PTA/Community meeting.

This, on top of: reciprocating babysitting, taking the animals to the vet, two Dr.s appointments, Regular church activity night, leadership training, a birthday, softball practices, one last soccer game, one work picnic, one awesome hike with friends (to be thoroughly covered later), one spectacularly cleaned out garage, and of course, grocery shopping, dinner, and season 4 of 24 on DVD. :)

Gratefully, The Skipper was able to help a lot with the evening stuff, although his days of coming home, grabbing dinner, out with a kid (or me leaving without the kids), and home to bed -just to do the same thing tomorrow, got pretty old fast.

We are so glad to be healthy, active, involved, loved, and able to help! And

HOORAY FOR SUMMER!!

(We've already gutted and reconfigured 2 bedrooms, overhauled 3 cabinets, reorganized 1 craft/game/sewing/scrapbook closet, had friends over, gone to the pool, had a picnic..........)

Pool Party!

Yippy-Skippy had her 6th birthday party at the local pool!







Everyone had a great time. (I must say it was absolutely wonderful -the very idea of being outside in a pool in May-fabulous.) It was a bit chilly when getting out of the water on account of the wind, but you can't have it all. :)








We invited some friends to celebrate with us. They have four girls roughly in the same age range as ours. -Very fun! And a couple other school friends completed the group.

Small and simple party, poolside with messy cupcakes -not even napkins to blow away. (Not everyone appreciated my simplicity, but everyone was a good sport.)
















Little Red is sporting a new haircut -not of her own doing. And something we like to call "The Biggest Smile Ever!"

Makeovers

Makeover #1

Well, our own Little Red has done it again. In her short 3+ years she or sisters have managed to cut her hair about every six months. She has never had long hair, nor will she in the next year I suspect.

I can usually fix the mess with a short bob cut, but this time, I'm just not sure. I guess we'll have to go look at style books and pay someone to fix it. It's just as well, she is the worst at keeping a barrette or a pony tail in.













Makeover #2

Yippy-Skippy gets glasses! Mainly for use in the classroom when she is trying to read either near or far, these spectacular specs will usually be found on a smiling happy face.

Garden Ready!

Here are the before and after pictures of our garden area. We had to sacrifice a camping trip with friends and take a day off work, but we finally got it done. Now we'll plant the seeds and see if we can get anything to grow.

Baseball, Temple, and a Wagon Wheel TX part 3

On a long Sunday afternoon, we took the opportunity to toss the baseball around a bit. The girls still have...emerging skills.
(Sorry again about flipped pictures. I have "fixed" it twice, but to no avail. Now I just have to get this posted and get my kids off to school.)






The Skipper and I had planned to attend the San Antonio Temple while were in town, but never quite made it. The day we left, it was closed. The girls however, just had to at least see it, and add to their collection of temples they have seen and had their picture in front of. We're so glad they recognize the joy they feel even outside the temple.


This is a rest stop on the way out of Texas. It must be a new favorite 'cause we stopped there entering and leaving the state.
